University Store
The University Store, located on the lower level of the Lane University Center, carries a full line of FSU-related articles such as t-shirts, mugs, sweatshirts, etc. In addition, a diversity of items, including greeting cards, sundries, magazines, snacks, etc., is offered. The University Store is open 8:00 a.m. - 4:15 p.m., Monday through Friday.
ATM and Other Money Services
An ATM is available in the Lane University Center, during open hours. The University does not cash personal checks. The Office of Conferences & Events summer desk does not process credit cards. That i available in the FSU Billing Office (Pullen Hall) during normal operating hours and on a limited, specific-need basis in The University Store.
Check In & Out
During the summer, the University maintains a fully trained conference staff to assist in the handling of front desk operations, set ups and general housekeeping. Staff will be available 24 hours a day to provide a wide range of services including check-in and check-out.
A centralized registration desk is located on the first floor of Westminster Hall. Whenever possible, this will be the location of all check-in/check-out/information needs of your group. Please make arrangements to have your check-in at a certain time. For example, have your check-in from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., rather than "all day." Experience has shown that a designated check-in period allows for more efficient use of both your conference time and the University's summer conference staff. This is also true of your check-out period.
University conference staff will be glad to work with you in event planning. In addition, floor plans of the residence halls will be provided to you in advance toward preliminary room assignments. The University reserves exclusive jurisdiction over the distribution of keys.
The Conference Desk can be reached at 301.687.4087, or 301.687.4020. Please feel free to leave this number for family and friends for emergency purposes (not for social calls).
Printing
A full range of printing services are available on campus including color copying, transparencies, and minor binding. Consider the FSU Print Shop for poster, banners, directional signs, etc. These services can be added onto a final bill.
Emergencies
For emergencies, contact University Police (301.687.4222). The police station is located on University Drive. You may also contact the Office of Conferences & Events 3187-4021 or 4087 in the summer). Police are first-responders, and a partnership is in place with the City of Frostburg. You may also call 911.
Health Services
All groups are requested to have a medical plan in place for your residency. Emergency Room service is available in Cumberland (10 miles west of Frostburg) at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center - Exit 44 off -68, 12500 Willowbrook Road Cumberland. It is strongly recommended that each delegate be sure to have an insurance membership card or other identification which will serve to procure treatment while at the conference. It is suggested that you bring a first-aid kit for your group.
Mail Service
A letter drop with daily pickup is located near the Chesapeake Dining Hall. It is suggested that delegates bring their own stationery and stamps. The University Store has postcards. Mail delivery for delegates should be addressed care of the conference being attended and to the attention of the Office of Conferences and Events/name of camp you are attending, FSU; individual mail can be picked up at the Conference Desk. Please advise letter-senders to not put the residence hall/room number - that will delay receiving the item.
Parking
Parking permits are available to all guests, at no charge. Each group's permit will designate lot. In most cases, "black" will be on the tag, which designates it as student parking. FSU staff lots are "red" -- these are FSU Bobcat colors. Note that "Annapolis" lot is "red" and is for University employees. While these are the first spaces you see when you enter the residence hall area, these are not actually the closest to where the bulk of summer guests are staying.
Publicity
Any information which must be sent to prospective camp guests describing University facilities, housing, and services should be reviewed by the University in advance of final publications to assure accuracy of information.
Signage
The University can provide generic signage for direction to registration, meeting rooms, residence halls upon request. Additional charges may apply. In most cases, groups provide their own special-purpose signs. The University has guidelines for display of signs and posters; said policies will be made available in planning discussions. FSU kindly asks that any chalk directions be in a place where rain will wash it away. Charges may apply for labor to remove from buildings or under awnings.
Snack Bar
For your convenience, Chesapeake Dining Hall offers OutTakes, which has a separate entrance but is generally open when the building is, for meals. The Lane University Center's Appalachian Station will be open during the school year for breakfast and lunch menu items, and at select times in the summer. You may call the Office of Conferences & Events for open schedule, or consult the Frostburg State University mobile app.
Staff
Frostburg State University provides a fully-trained Summer Conferences staff who live in the residence halls and who will be your primary point of contact during your stay on our campus. They will handle all aspects of your registration (at Westminster Hall's conference desk 24 hours a day), will provide information about local attractions, and will assist you with any concerns related to your events.
