Welcome FSU Bobcats!

We are excited about this year and look forward to working with you. The Center for Academic Advising and Retention (CAAR) is here to serve you and your advisors. Academic advising is an invaluable relationship between students and advisors. It is an opportunity to exchange information designed to help all students reach their educational and career goals during their college experience. We have a wonderful space in Pullen Hall that is right in the center of campus close to many other support services that can make your experience here so rewarding.

We want you to do well in all of your classes, but it takes hard work.  There is no hand holding.  Faculty expect a lot, and you are expected to seek help when needed.  Help is available, and you must take advantage of it.  You and your advisor are mutually responsible.  Advisors make sure that students are aware of every opportunity, and students must take advantage of every opportunity they need.

As everyone knows, a successful semester requires appropriate planning.  Be proactive and take advantage of the support CAAR provides.  If you are experiencing difficulties in class, immediately contact CAAR, faculty, and academic advisors for assistance.   We are a vital resource to assure you that your college experience at Frostburg is on track and academically successful.  We are also here to provide support to academic advisors, so please contact us.

Our campus provides a friendly environment where everyone receives personalized attention. We encourage you to stop by our office so that we can help.  The CAAR advising team is ready to assist you in reaching your graduation goal.

A bridge to excellence!

Regards,

Center for Academic Advising and Retention (CAAR) Staff
