Dates and Deadlines

September-June:

  • Apply for scholarships from private sources such as banks and churches, local companies and organizations, and special interest organizations. See Outside Scholarships for more information including a list of free scholarship search engines.

October-February:

January-April:

  • February 15 - Admission Deadline. In order to be eligible to apply for Institutional and Departmental Scholarships, you must be admitted by February 15.
  • March 1 - Financial Aid Priority Deadline. A student's FAFSA must be processed by the U.S. Department of Education, and the results of that processed application must be sent to the school by this date. A FAFSA that is postmarked by March 1st or is submitted online by March 1st does not meet the priority deadline.
  • If we have requested additional documents from you, please submit them within 15 days of the request date.
  • The Financial Aid Office typically begins mailing out electronic award notification instructions to incoming freshman and transfer students the second week of March of each calendar year.

May-July:

  • May 1 - Returning Student Award Verification Deadline. All returning students who are selected for verification must turn in all items by this date. The Financial Aid Office will not award any financial aid to returning students until it has received all items required for the verification process.
  • Mid-June: The Financial Aid Office typically begins emailing electronic award notification instructions to returning students to their official Frostburg State email account.
  • July 1: Instructions on how to accept a Stafford Loan and information on how to apply for a Parent PLUS Loan are made available.

June-August:

  • Instructions on how to accept Federal Work-Study that may be listed as part of the financial aid package are mailed out to students under separate cover.
