Although the following guidance for isolation procedures applies to COVID-19, it may also cover other infectious diseases such as influenza, strep throat, etc. Specific guidance for each infectious disease will come from healthcare professionals at the Brady Health Center, or your personal healthcare provider.

Students:

If a COVID or other infectious disease diagnosis occurs at the Student Health Center, you will be advised of isolation procedures from our nursing staff in accordance with current CDC guidelines. Students living in on-campus residence halls in a double occupancy room will need to isolate at home or another off-campus location if they test positive, including local hotels. The university does not provide isolation housing on campus. Students living in on-campus residence halls in a single occupancy room, including Edgewood Commons, will have the choice of isolating at home or isolating in place in their residence hall room. Students residing off-campus or commuting will isolate in their off-campus apartment or at home.

If a COVID diagnosis occurs from an external healthcare provider or home test, STAY HOME or in your residence hall room until you can notify the Student Health Center by calling 301-687-4310, Monday-Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Isolating in place in a residence hall, apartment, or home:

Stay in your room, leaving only for essential functions, while wearing a mask. On-campus students can order food from Chesapeake-To-Go Order and pick it up from the lobby of Chesapeake Dining Hall (wearing a mask). Your order will be at a designated location for carryout orders in the entrance lobby, designated by your Student ID number. When leaving your room to use a shared restroom, wear a mask and disinfect surfaces you touch. Although you can step outside for fresh air, avoid social gatherings and face-to-face contact with others. Do not return to class until you are cleared to do so from the Student Health Center. If you have a roommate, notify them right away so they can seek advice from the Student Health Center or another healthcare provider regarding potential exposure.
